If you want to get back a clean system without hacking files, select all of the images, then select "remove" in the selected images tab, that will remove them from DT and you can re-import what you want.ĭont worry about the "film roll" entries that you can see, you dont have to clear them out just ignore them. I need to back up my system before I test it and that is not possible until next week.

The list that you posted with the file names asking of you should remove them looks similar to the ones that I remove in windows version 2.3 to reset so looks good, but move them to a save folder rather than delete in case you need to restore some of them as version 3 may work a little different. Darktable saves all important image metadata (including tags, edit history, etc.) in XMP "sidecar" files alongside the images themselves. You'll have to re-import the photos you want to work with, but happily, the library file is mostly just a cache that speeds up various operations within Darktable. After you delete the library file, Darktable won't know anything about your image collection (and should stop crashing). This is where Darktable saves information about the images you've imported.

I deleted the sidecar files, but no change. So I changed the name of the file containing my images on my Mac, but 'darktabe' still found them. Unexpectedly, it showed all my old imports. I had deleted 'darktable', so I re-installed it.
